Furnace Cut-Away
This is what your furnace looks like on the inside.
Heat Exchanger
This is what allows the heat from the fire to be transferred to the air circulating in your home.
Inducer Motor
This carries the By-Products of combustion (Carbon monoxide, Hydrocarbons, etc.) out to the outside of your home.
Furnace Blower Wheel
Attached to the blower motor, this circulates the air in your home.
Furnace Hot Surface Igniter
This eliminates the “Standing Pilot” which saves money and is what ignites the gas on a call for heat.
Furnace Flame Sensor
Once the gas is ignited the senses or “Proofs” that the ignition of gas was successful.
Furnace Relay
This temperature sensing relay is often used as a “High Limit” safety preventing a runaway furnace.
Furnace Blower Motor
This motor drives the blower wheel which in turn circulates the air in your home.
Furnace Gas Valve
This controls the flow of natural gas (or LP gas) into the burners during operation.
Furnace Condensate Pump
During A/C operation, water is produced as a by-product of cooling (dehumidification). The water is collected in the condensate pump and in turn pumped outside.
Furnace Transformer
This provides the “low-voltage” control that runs the system. The low voltage is 24 volts and is safer than the normal 120/240 volts used to power the motors and compressor.
Furnace Burners
This is where the fuel-air mixture is ignited and burned, supplying heat to your home.
Furnace Pressure Switch
This safety device “proofs” the induced draft fan operation.
Furnace Control Board
This is the “brain” of the indoor system which controls the entire sequence of operation while monitoring the safety devices.
